Playing Detective
January 30th, 2008 by Rick Lax
In my Trial Advocacy and Pre-Trial Litigation classes, I learned that it is often the lawyer’s job, during discovery, to play detective…
That said, I just took my laundry out of the dryer…and it smells like maple syrup.
I’m stumped; any theories?

Could it be the microwavable Jimmy Dean “pancake and sausage on a stick” you left in your back pocket?

Something was probably up with the dryer before your clothes went into it. Maybe the previous user flips flap-jacks for a living, and their clothes either are all covered in syrup or just reek of it. Though I doubt anyone that lives in your building does anything so menial for work…
Is there some new fabric softener/dryer sheet that smells like maple syrup?
If you find out, let us know! I would love to find out how to always smell like maple syrup without actually having to be covered in maple syrup.

Why is Jon Stewart so hard on those pancake/sausage sticks? He seems to be under the impression that they represent everything that’s wrong with America. I don’t get it.

It’s better than smelling like feet!

I don’t think you all appreciate the seriousness of this. You seem to think my smelling like syrup is some kind of a funny matter…

Now *this* is positive. Maple syrup smell or not - you did your laundry!

Check the bottle of detergent you used to wash with…
If it says “Maple Syrup” on it, stop doing your laundry while intoxicated lest you be convicted of LWI….

While unrelated, I feel it important to point out that the secret to happiness is as follows:
Place a drop of vanilla behind each ear and you’ll smell like a cookie all day.

I have to stop looking at this post. That picture is making me really hungry!
